Reincarnation:
As we take this long journey of life, most of us have become interested in the lifeforce within us. Each and every one of us will reach a moment in our lives when questions such as, “Why am I here”, Why would God allow suffering, and What is my purpose in life,” seek to be answered. This is the very moment, for many of us, when the spiritual journey begins. And, ultimately, the destination is God, regardless of the path that you have selected to take in your life.
“Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find”, Jesus made that statement, and He also said “The kingdom of heaven is within you”. For most people, it is understood that God is speaking about the “soul” or the “spirit” which is within all of us. A sacred space inside all of us that searches for truth and seeks God’s wisdom. During this time of investigation, I urge you to be open to all forms of spiritual information, since this is a clear way to becoming spiritually mature. Topics such as reincarnation should be explored and analyzed for truth.
In regards to reincarnation, well, it’s for everyone. Every religion and every race.
Christians often assume that each human being lives once as a mortal on earth, dies once, and then faces judgement. As a Christian, I too used to believe this way. However, the more exploration I did on the subject, the more convinced I became that reincarnation is a principle, which is in line with a loving, and compassionate God. In researching the topic, I also became aware that reincarnation is also found in Scriptures.
The doctrine of Reincarnation literally means “to be made flesh again”, and this is a belief that the soul survives death and is “reborn” in a new body. The purpose for this is to perfect the soul. In other words, the soul is reborn to obtain knowledge and spiritual growth. Once the soul has achieved spiritual purification and growth through the many lifetimes, then it does not have to reincarnate again.
There are many Bible verses which are suggestive of reincarnation, especially Mathew 11:13-14. “For all the prophets and the law have prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was to come”.
Another significant Scripture verse is found in Mathew 17: 10-13. It reads, “And the disciples asked him saying, “Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” But he answered them and said, “Elijah indeed is to come and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also shall the Son of Man suffer at their hand. Then the disciples understood that he had spoken of John the Baptist.”
These are clear statements showing testimony of reincarnation in the New Testament. By identifying John the Baptist as Elijah, Jesus is identifying Himself as the Messiah. And Jesus said as plain as He could so that there would be no misunderstanding. “This is the one….there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist. And if you are willing to accept it he is Elijah who was to come. He who has ears let him hear.” (Mathew 11:11-15)
You see, due to condemnation of reincarnation by the early church, some 500 years after the death of Christ, this doctrine has become an enemy to the Judeo/Christian belief system. However, it is certain to say that reincarnation was not an unfamiliar concept to the people that Jesus preached to, or to Jesus Himself.
Another suggestive statement of reincarnation can be found when Jesus declares the following to the believers in the Church of Philadelphia. “Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it.” (Revealtion 3:12)
Here, Jesus is stating that people were once residents of the temple of God. And, as soon as the person overcomes sin, then the person becomes a permanent inhabitant of the temple of God, never to leave it again. There are many more verses, so I suggest that you take time to explore the topic.
From all my research, I can only draw one conclusion, that reincarnation was not only known by those in the days of Jesus, but also taught by Jesus. I believe that reincarnation should be a doctrine acceptable by every follower of Jesus Christ. For it is a doctrine that shows God’s infinite mercy as He allows us many lifetimes to “get it right”. May God’s peace by with you.
Boymystic was told by Jesus that reincarnation is a true event! Below are a few youtube videos on this subject.
